As I’m writing this post, I’m currently on the long (somewhat grueling) 8-hour drive back to Dallas! Akash & I just left the wonderful city of New Orleans, and thanks to the amazing invention of personal hotspots, I’m writing this post covering our trip while it’s still fresh on my mind. 4 Trends I’m Loving this Spring

Posted in Fashion, Outfits, Spring + Summer
on March 15, 2017

Hello hello, friends!! Today I bring you (as the title suggests) 4 trends I’m loving this spring! I definitely love keeping up with trends, but a lot of times there are some trends that I personally don’t like & therefore don’t participate in. This year, though, so many of the trends happening are things that I already love, so obviously I’m partaking in them!

First, off- Bell sleeves.

I’ve always been a fan of the bell sleeve, so it’s SO exciting that these are super in right now! It totally appeals to the inner hippie in me, and I’m loving all the pretty bell sleeves on everything– sweaters, tops, dresses, everything!

This one is probably my favorite! Ruffles are everywhere right now, and I can’t get enough. There has been a FLOOD of ruffled off-the-shoulder dresses, and I wish I could buy them all, but unfortunately my wallet can’t handle it.

Statement earrings.

This season bauble earrings are huge, and I’m loving it! Any bright, fun, textured statement earring automatically adds a huge pop to any outfit, and y’all know I love my statement earring + top knot combo!

LOVE how many embroidered pieces are out right now! It gives it more of a “vintage” vibe, which just looks so delicate & pretty. I’ve been obsessed with top & wearing in non-stop because of the gorgeous embroidered detailing + bell sleeves. Two trends in one- can’t get better than that, right?

The Prettiest Spring Maxi Under $60

Posted in Fashion, Outfits
on March 13, 2017

Hi, friends!! Hope everyone’s having an awesome day so far 🙂 Recently I’ve been obsessed with maxi dresses- there are SO many cute ones out for spring, I need them all!! I found this one at Nordstrom for less than $60 (CRAZY, I know.) The print is to die for, and I’m loving the ruffles & cold shoulder details. So perfect for spring- especially for those of you who have weddings to attend in the near future!

The slits along the legs make it super breezy, and the elastic makes it extremely comfortable. I wish it was socially acceptable to wear them same clothes every day… I love this dress so much I wish I could wear it every day! Akash loved it too, so it’s even boy-approved!

I don’t know what it is about this print, but I love how soft & pretty it is. It’s definitely going to sell out, so grab one while you can!!

Meet Jess

Posted in Fashion
on March 10, 2017

Today I want to introduce you all to a sweet new friend of mine, who I got to meet this past weekend- Jess Pereira from Dressed by Jess!!

I actually reached out to Jess around a month ago, because I fell head over heels for her content- both on her blog and her social media channels. For those of you who also blog out there, you know how exciting it is to make a new blog friend- you can literally talk for hours and hours about things your friends in real life don’t always understand/have the patience to hear! Needless to say, we hit it off and I’m super excited to have a new blogger friend in Dallas.

Anyway, back to Jess- she’s a photographer + fashion blogger, and if you check her website, you know- her content is incredible. She has more minimalistic yet classic style, and everything she wears just looks so effortless! I could honestly spend hours and hours looking at the pictures she’s taken, too. After a month since the first time we spoke, Jess & I were finally able to meet up last weekend when I got the rare chance to spend a weekend in Dallas. We had so much fun getting lunch at Savor Gastropub in Klyde Warren Park, and talking about everything from our favorite bloggers to our future career aspirations. Cheers to new friends! 🙂

Jessica & I decided to do a little interview, as we figured it would be the best way for our followers to get to know each other!

If I were to look in your purse right now, what would I find?

I can start out by telling you my purse needs to be cleaned out! Things pile up in there when life gets busy! I always carry my planner around because clients can call for my photography business at any time and I need to be able to schedule them in! You can also find my badge for my full time job (I have to pay to replace that so it’s better to keep it in one place). I have two different chapsticks, two lipsticks, sunglasses, two gift cards from my graduation I still need to use (perfect excuse to go shopping!), A Millennium Hotel room key from my stay in London, a subway card from NYC, Excedrin because I get headaches at the most random times, eye drops, a tangerine??, hand sanitizer, several receipts, two extra pairs of contacts because why not, and I threw in exactly two pencils and five pens.

Is this what everyone else has in their purse or is it just me??

What has been your most popular blog post to date?

My most popular blog post was my last post about my nail hacks! I shared my secrets about what I do to save money when it comes to nail care, and still keep fresh color on all year around!

What are 3 clothing pieces you can’t live without?

I most definitely cannot live without my Lululemon leggings. They are like an extra layer of skin! I can dress them up and I can dress them down. Number two would be my casual Vince shoes. I dedicated an entire post to these two pairs of shoes because I am so obsessed with them. And coming in at number three would be any kind of comfy and loose fitting solid t-shirt.

If you could live in a book, TV show, or movie, what would it be?

This is a tie between Gossip Girl and Friends. If you’ve seen these shows you know they both take place in NYC, which I would move to in a heartbeat! Other than that I love both of these shows for different reasons. I am in love with the entire wardrobe of Gossip Girl, and I would love to be part of a super tightknit group of people like the cast in Friends!

What would be your perfect day?

My perfect day would be in the company of the people I love most! Some of my favorite days included no glamour, but were spent laughing with close friends or having good conversations with family. Being in a dream destination with friends and family would be a cherry on top, but it’s all about who you’re with, not where you are!

How would you describe your style?

My style is very black and white (literally!). I don’t wear a whole lot of color, but I am definitely trying to branch out a little more. I have pretty simple taste, I like solids and minimal patterns, but I do like something exciting in my pieces every once in awhile, like edgy leather pants, a cute and classic bow, or fringe. So while my pieces can be eclectic, my color palette remains pretty steady (as of now!)

I hope you guys had as much fun reading this post as I had putting it together!

Don’t forget to check out Jess’s blog & all her social media- show her some love!!

Lusting for Lush

Posted in Beauty
on March 8, 2017

Lord knows I have way too many Lush products- I can’t help myself! Lush has so many incredible products, but sometimes it can be super overwhelming because they have what seems like an endless amount of options. I’ve been shopping at Lush for a few years now, & I’ve tried a ton of their stuff- some have made it into my list of holy grail products, and some… not so much.

On my Insta stories I always share my favorite bath bombs, and I get a ton of questions on my favorites & other product recommendations from Lush.

With that said, I thought it’d be super fun to talk all about my favorite Lush products, & share things I still want to try from them! Being the huge beauty junkie that I am, I’m always looking to try new things, so please send me all your recommendations that I haven’t included in here- I want to know what y’all are loving!

So let’s jump in 🙂

Let’s start with my favorite: bath bombs & bubble bars!!

Lush splits its store by product type- shampoo, conditioner, face products, bubble bars & bath bombs, soaps, etc. My favorite part of the store is definitely the bath bombs! I’m not going to lie- to be very honest, I don’t know exactly what beneficial advantages bath bombs & bubble bars have for skin health, but they’re freaking fun. Nothing is more satisfying than that initial contact that results in colorful swirly water! Lush scents are amazing, and bath bombs can totally change your bath experience.

In case you’re not super familiar with Lush products, here’s a little explanation: bubble bars are exactly what they sound like- a ton of pretty colorful bubbles! But if you’re looking for more of a fizzy bath, go for a bath bomb. The bath bombs tend to have a little more color & pigment, if you’re wanting to go for a really bright & colorful bath.

My favorite bath bombs are:

INTERGALACTIC: my ALL-TIME FAVORITE. Smells amazing, and I’d probably go so far as to say it’s the most beautiful. If you’re looking for the perfect Instagram pic, I’d say go for this one- it gives you beautiful swirls of bright yellow, green, blue, & pink.

BIG BLUE: This one’s super relaxing & refreshing. If you’re more sensitive to strong smells, this one’s a good pick! It smells like lavender & a hint of lime.

METAMORPHOSIS: I’m dying to try this one!! One of my friends sent me a snapchat video of this one, and it’s so pretty- after the grey fizzes out, it exposes gorgeous bright colors!

PINK: For anyone who’s not trying to spend $10 on a bath, this one’s awesome! I know bath bombs can get a little pricey, so if you’re wanting to try out bath bombs for the first time without splurging on a bunch, this one’s awesome to give you a little hint of the magic that is bath bombs. 🙂

Onto bubble bars!

BIG BANG: This one gives you gorgeous blue water with lots and lots of bubbles!

THE COMFORTER: This one’s soooo creamy.

SUNNYSIDE: I’d go so far as to say this one’s my fave bubble bar. It gives you a “liquid gold” bathing experience- so fun! The only bad thing I can say is that it leaves your tub super glittery, so make sure you rinse or scrub it all off afterwards!

Lush face masks are also some of the best in the market! I love how they’re all natural and (don’t quote me on this, but I’m pretty sure) vegan. They’re pretty much all sensitive skin-friendly, which is awesome!

They have two types of face masks: self-preserving & fresh. The self-preserving ones can last for a few months, while the fresh face masks have an expiration date. I’ve tried the fresh masks before, but for me personally, I prefer to just go with the self-preserving. I love experimenting with face masks, so I hate that I only have 2 weeks to use up the fresh ones. If you’re the type of person who uses a face mask start to finish, though, these are awesome!! Just be sure to keep them in your fridge when you’re storing them.

Here are some of my faves:

MASK OF MAGNAMINTY: This one’s a cult favorite, and the one I’ve been using for years and years. It leaves my skin feeling incredibly refreshed & smooth like a baby’s butt.

CUP O COFFEE: This mask smells extremely potent, so if you’re not crazy on strong scents stay away from this one! The caffeine in this one boosts your skin, and the coffee grounds help to scrub away dirt.

ROSY CHEEKS: I’ve tried this one before but don’t currently have it on me. It’s amazing for soothing your skin; it has calamine in it, which is super good if you have irritated skin!

Onto body products!

Lush also makes a ton of shower jellies, lotions, cleansers, shaving creams, & so much more! My favorite body products from Lush are:

DREAM CREAM: This one leaves my skin feeling incredibly moisturized, but not like an oil-slick. I hate super heavy moisturizers, and this one’s perfect for my preferences.

OCEAN SALT: My FAVE scrub!!! You can use this on your face or your body, so it’s super sensitive skin-friendly. It’s not too harsh, either, so you don’t have to use it super sparingly. Love love love.

LEMONY FLUTTER: This one’s awesome for winter time if you get super dry skin in the winter months, like I do. I always keep one in my purse in case I need it while I’m out!

Hair favorites:

DAMAGED: I always use this one after I get my hair colored. If you have super dry, damaged hair, this one’s perfect.

I LOVE JUICY: I personally am not a fan of Lush’s shampoo bars, just because I prefer something easy peezy that I can squeeze out of a bottle. This one, though, comes out of a bottle, and it’s perfect for the days when you haven’t washed your hair in a week (girl, I know you know what I’m talking about.)

YAY- you made it to the end!! Hopefully this helped any of you who are overwhelmed by how many products Lush has! If any of you have specific questions about any of the products, please shoot me an e-mail or a comment- I would love to chat! Also send me all your recommendations for anything I didn’t mention; like I said, I love trying out new stuff, so I would totally love to try out some of y’all’s favorites. 🙂
