Happy Wednesday, friends! 🙂 It’s hump day, YAY! I’m spending the day bouncing from class to class to meeting to class unfortunately. I feel like I have so many Valentine’s Day posts planned for the next two weeks, so bare with me! I guess you can say I just love Valentine’s Day and everything about it. 🙂

On another note, happy February! February always seems to go by with a snap, so I’m really trying to take advantage of the time I do have and be as productive as I can. I have so much to do- spring break is only a couple weeks away, and I barely have anything planned for our trip so far. Akash & I are also hoping to plan a trip for this summer that needs to be booked very soon, so we’re kind of rushing to get that done too. TLDR: it’s been a crazy month and February’s about to get crazier!

I hope all of you are having a fantastic week so far, I love you all! See you on Friday my chickadees!

January 2017 Recap

Happy Monday, friends!! I hope all of you had an awesome weekend, and an awesome month! This month’s been pretty much just full of adjusting back to college life, but it’s been a good month overall. I wanted to start this new series of recapping each month- my monthly roundups are where you’ll find some recaps on what’s happened in case you missed it, and just some life tidbits and updates.

Let’s dive right in!

New Year’s Eve was spent with a cozy night in, just cuddled up watching Friends (I don’t care what anyone says, I’m the world’s #1 Friends fan.)

Akash & I kicked off the year in his dad’s cabins up in Oklahoma! I have a whole post on it here– it was so much fun, and a super relaxing getaway from the city for a few days. Definitely hoping we make it an annual thing!

My dad’s been wanting to take me to the shooting range for the longest time, and we finally found a time to go! It was a little scary, I’m not going to lie, but it was a fun experience! At least I get to say that I’ve shot a gun now… 🙂

Akash & I spent one of our last days back in Dallas exploring the city & enjoying some brunch at Bird Bakery. I have a whole post on the day here, check it out!

I visited one of my very best friends Melody before we both had to head back to school. Her house is gorgeous, and she was so kind as to let me shoot at her house- isn’t it beautiful?! This look went up last week, check it out here.

You can definitely say that blush is one of my new favorite colors! This whole month it seems like I can’t get enough! Love love love.

A highlight of every trip I take back to Dallas is seeing this little cutie! He melts my heart! 🙂

As soon as I got back to College Station, the work caught up with me real quick. I’ve been spending a lot of time just doing some logistics for the blog, and a lot of homework assignments too. Our recreation center just got finished and it’s huge- I found this spot above the rec that was the perfect study spot!

January was the year of the Keurig! I finally got myself one of these babies (it’s about time!) so I’ve been drinking a ton of tea! I love waking up early in the morning and making myself a cup of tea while getting ready for the day. So relaxing 🙂

Akash and I took a day trip down to Houston this past Saturday & shot some really fun pictures while we were there! I always love going down to Houston- the food’s amazing & their wall art game is off the hook- what else do I need? We shot this look just for funzies- it’s located right next to the Merchant Market shop. Keep your eyes peeled for this look coming on Valentine’s Day!

Now time for my favorite products of the month!

I’ve been going through the process of trying to repair my skin- the winter months have really made my skin super dry & just not cute. I’ve been loving these two face masks, this one by the Body Shop & the Origins Original Skin rose clay mask. I wrote a whole blog post on my favorite face masks here, check it out in case you missed it!

I’ve talked about this scent so much, but I seriously can’t get enough! It smells so light & so feminine at the same time.

Like I mentioned earlier, I’ve been really trying to take good care of my skin lately, and that means using sunscreen more often! I’m really bad about using sunscreen, but I’ve been trying to incorporate it into my skincare routine every morning. This one from Dior was a gift from my mom a while ago, but I love it so much!

I’ve also been loving this candle by Voluspa. I found this one at Nordstrom, but there are a ton of different scents from this company that are awesome!

Last but not least, I’ve been getting back into doing my nails at home! I’ve definitely been spoiling myself for the last few months with biweekly mani/pedis… but it adds up! I usually always get gel nails whenever I go to the salon, because they last so long. I’ve found, though, that you can really get the exact same look & longevity with gel-style polishes! I’ve been loving the new Essie formula & the Nails Inc. one too! Baby pinks are my fave, I rarely have anything else on!

Pamper Yourself: Essentials for an At-Home Spa Day

Who doesn’t love a good bath? I know I definitely do. A nice candle, a fizzy bath bomb, and a glass of wine- what more could you ask for? After my last post sharing my favorite face masks, I got a lot of comments & emails asking about my bath time essentials. So here they are!

Candles are essential to every successful bath time. This one from Nordstrom is awesome because it’s like a more affordable high-end candle. You definitely don’t need anything fancy, just whatever scent that you enjoy & gets you relaxed! I love warm fragrances, so this one is awesome for me.

I usually always try to exfoliate my skin before putting on a face mask, and this Soap & Glory detox scrub is amazing. It’s not like a typical scrub with big microbeads- this scrub feels almost like tiny sands, so it’s not as harsh on your skin. It always leaves my skin feeling fresh & clean. You can also find it at Walgreens and Target, so it’s super accessible!

After the scrub, I love this Fresh rose face mask. It’s super calming, so for those of you with sensitive skin, you don’t have to worry about irritation. It’s also super easy! I love clay masks, but sometimes they’re a real pain in my booty to take off. This one’s super easy to rinse off & the effects are awesome.

After both the scrub and the face mask, I use this tea tree oil from The Body Shop to prevent blemishes. Take advantage of the steam from the bath opening up your pores!

I recently discovered the magic of bath bombs. I don’t know if they actually do anything for your skin, but they’re so much fun to use! My boyfriend got me this set as part of my anniversary gift, and it made me wander into Lush to explore the world of bath bombs. Now it’s safe to say I have a few too many…. oops! My favorite one so far is Intergalactic, but the one in this photo is Sex Bomb. They’re all awesome, but if you’re looking for something that gives a ton of color to your bath, try The Experimenter.

Happy bathing, friends!! 🙂

Pretty in Paisley

Valentine’s Day is just 3 weeks away!! Valentine’s Day has always been one of my very favorite holidays- even before I had a boyfriend! There’s just something about teddy bears, roses, and chocolates that makes me blush. 🙂

I’m not sure what Akash & I have planned for this upcoming Valentine’s Day- probably just a dinner date (and hopefully some pretty roses!) Last year we had this amazing romantic dinner at Christopher’s World Grille in College Station. The food was so good & the dessert- don’t even get me started on the dessert!

This outfit is inspired by Valentine’s Day- it’s a super cute outfit idea for a date with your boyfriend or hubby! I’m usually not a fan of paisley, but I really like how it’s worked in with the floral print of the dress. I found this dress at Altar’d State for 60% off- they’re having their Semi Annual sale right now, and all sale items are an additional 60% off!

I tried to keep it simple, with just a quilted bag and some pretty grey strappy heels. I actually snagged these heels from Aldo on a super crazy sale about a year ago, and I finally got to break them out. I’m not going to lie, they’re surprisingly kind of hard to walk in… and I had to poke an extra hole so that the button could fit on the strap. But for only $18? I’ll take it!

I know it’s still a bit early, but I want to know what all of you have planned for the upcoming holiday. I have a couple more Valentine’s Day-themed posts coming up, so keep your eyes peeled for those!

Face Masks Every Girl Needs

Everyone loves a good spa day! It’s amazing what a face mask & some bubble bath can do. I can’t even tell y’all how much I enjoy myself a good bath and an at-home facial. Chances are if I’m at home (whether I’m studying, working, or just watching TV) you can always find me with a face mask on! Last night while I was doing my nightly DIY facial & watching Friends (#lifeofacouchpotato) I figured, why not share with y’all my favorite face masks?! I included a ton of options, ranging from drugstore to high end, so there’s something for everyone!

Just a little background before we get into it: I do have blemish-prone, combination type skin. All of these face masks have different functions, which can also work for a ton of other skin types too, so be sure to make sure what each face mask does before you go out and get them!

This first gem is one that I’m positive you’ve seen before: the Glam Glow Gravity Mud Firming Treatment. If you’ve seen any blogger or Youtuber use a silver peel-off mask, it’s this bad boy. This mask does an amazing job at prepping your skin for makeup, and your skin feels super plump and smooth after using it. It’s definitely on the pricier side, but I give it two thumbs up!

Next we have our Lush face & body masks. You can use it for both your face and body, but I pretty much only ever use it on my face. The Cup O’Coffee mask is relatively new to me, but I’ve been using Mask of Magnaminty for years. It’s seriously so refreshing, and always leaves my skin feeling great. I’m a huge fan of Lush Cosmetics– they’re all self preserving, and handmade, too! It’s always cool to see the ingredients in all of their products. Plus, the girls at my Lush location are so sweet, so that’s a plus!

For those of you who haven’t heard of Vichy before, it’s a Korean brand that’s becoming super popular now in America. I used to see it when I was really into Korean skincare, so it’s super cool to see it appearing in Walgreens and Target. This dual peel mask leaves your skin so clean, and makes your pores so much smaller. I’m not super crazy about the smell, but it’s definitely a fun mask to do with your girlfriends!

This next mask by Origins is seriously a miracle worker. I have a ton of Origins products, but this one’s probably one of my absolute favorite. After a few uses, you really see the texture on your face somewhat start to disappear, and it makes your foundation look 90x better.

This rose face mask by Fresh is super good for anyone who needs a soothing treatment. If I ever have super irritated skin, I always break this guy out because it does such a great job and calming & soothing. It feels like a dream after you apply it!

Last but not least, these sheet masks from Sephora are my all time favorite sheet masks! They have so many different types, for every skin type under the sun. They’re super easy & travel friendly- put them on for 15 minutes, and then toss it out. If I’m being truthful, I always leave them on for a little longer, and I find that it gives me better results. These babies are super inexpensive but super effective. They have so many options, I’m sure you’ll be able to find one for your skin type!

That concludes my favorite face masks! I hope this was at least somewhat helpful and that some of you found some recommendations for masks that you would want to try. I honestly think that face masks can totally transform your skin, and they’re a huge part of having clear & healthy skin. Let me know if you have any recommendations that I didn’t mention- I’d love to try them out!
