This post is in collaboration with Lash Savvy. All opinions are my own.

YOU GUYS. I finally did it- I got lash extensions and I am in LOVE. Y’all have been asking me left and right about if I’ve ever gotten them done before, and it sparked a little interest in me to try them out. Jessica from Lash Savvy was kind enough to invite me in for a service, and she was seriously the best! For everyone in the DFW area, check out her website here & go show her some love on Instagram (@lash_savvy). A few weeks ago I asked y’all to send over all the questions you have about lash extensions, and Jessica’s going to be answering the Q&A all in today’s post! Continue reading

The Lazy Girl’s Guide to Gorgeous Hair

Posted in Beauty
on April 5, 2017

I definitely don’t consider myself to have any sort of expertise in the hair department, but after doing my hair for so many years, I’ve definitely developed a routine that (in my opinion) works really well, and gives me the style that I want. I get questions all the time about how I curl my hair, my favorite products, etc., so today I’m spilling the beans & sharing all my favorite hair products! These babies are products that I purchase time & time again, because they do wonders for my hair.

You’ll pretty much find my hair in one of three hairstyles- air dried/straight, beach waves,  or thrown up in a bun. I’m pretty boring when it comes to hair, as I’m sure y’all have noticed in my posts! I was blessed with straight hair, so fortunately I never really have to worry about running a straightener through my hair, which is pretty neat.

So now that y’all have a little background info about my hair type, let’s get into the goodies!

My go-to hot tool for beachy waves or big curls is my 1.5 inch curling iron from Hot Tools. I use the clamp through about half of my hair, and I use it as a wand for the other half- I personally like to alternate styles, so that I don’t end up with big chunks sticking together. I bought this curling iron more than 2 years ago, and it’s still going strong. I’m not crazy about spending hundreds of dollars on a hair tool, but I also don’t recommend using the super inexpensive ones that you find at Walmart- they can be super damaging to your hair, so it’s better to be safe! If you shop at Ulta during their sale events, you can get this curling iron for as low as $30 sometimes.

I always curl my hair in 2 parts- the bottom half first, then the top. I find that this makes it easier, and I also spray the bottom layer right after curling it, so it doesn’t fall in the time that it takes me to curl the top half. I’ve been loving this Kristin Ess hairspray- it’s super light & not too crunchy. Plus it has a nice scent, so I’m not suffocating after spraying it!

If needed, I also use dry shampoo before curling my hair. I personally hate the feeling of dirty hair, so I wash my hair more than I probably should- but this dry shampoo is awesome! It’s a little pricier than other dry shampoos, but it works super well. Another one I love is the Batiste dry shampoo. As you can see, I have black hair, so one of the most annoying things is having a white cast in my hair after using dry shampoo. Both of these are super easy to work into your hair, without leaving any white powder (nobody likes that dandruff look, am I right?)

Last but not least, I run a little oil into the ends of my hair to prevent them from drying out. Using heat products can be super damaging, so I always make sure to run some oil through my ends. I love the MoroccanOil treatment, and I use this stuff all the time- it leaves my hair silky smooth and it smells amaze-balls.

Last but not least, I like to run a brush through my hair to loosen the waves a little for a more natural look- my favorite is the Wet Brush! Having super long & thick hair can be a real pain sometimes, and this brush is my savior. It also works super well for dispersing the oil so I don’t have greasy-looking hair.

And voila! You’re done! Like I said, I’m definitely not a huge hair enthusiast, but this hair routine allows me to get the hairstyle that I want without having to spend hours primping. I like saving my time for my makeup routine 😉

My Current Skincare Routine

Posted in Beauty
on March 20, 2017

Happy Monday, guys!! Hope you’re all doing well 🙂 I just got back into College Station, and it feels incredibly good to be back. This past week was definitely much needed & appreciated- I feel 30x more refreshed and ready finish off this semester with a bang!

I love sharing my favorite skincare products in my Instagram stories, & I get questions all the time on my favorite products for dealing with problematic skin flare-ups. Hopefully today’s post will answer any and all questions you may have about my skincare routine + give you guys some recommendations for my all time favorite products to try out for yourselves!

A little bit of background before we dive completely in- I have pretty normal/combination skin, but I’m definitely acne-prone. I also have quite a bit of redness & acne scarring on my cheeks, so I’m always on the hunt for products to help me with my problem areas. I love trying out new skincare, so I’ve basically tried almost every cult favorite there is out there! Today I’m sharing my top favorites for my everyday skin routine, but if you’re looking for my favorite masks, I shared my fave masks here & my favorite Lush products here!

Kicking it off with my cleanser- I’ve used this cleanser alone for the past year or so, and I’ve repurchased this baby so many times! I love it for just an easy clean- it leaves my skin feeling extremely refreshed & clean!

Next up: toner. I’ve tried every toner under the sun, and this one is my favorite one! It’s affordable but does an awesome job. If you don’t use toner, start now!! Toner helps to even out your skin’s pH & also takes off any residue that’s left on your face.

**Night time: For my nighttime serum, I love this one from Sunday Riley. Sunday Riley products can get a little pricey, but they’re definitely worth the splurge. I’d definitely say that this product has made the biggest different in my skin, in combination with the next one I’m about to share!

I first heard about Good Genes in one of Sazan Hendrix’s skincare videos, and she raved about it. After I first watched her video, I suddenly started seeing it everywhere- I feel like this happens to me so often haha! But this treatment leaves my skin feeling SO refreshed & moisturized the next morning. Definitely a game changer!!

For the morning, though, I like to use a little bit thicker of a moisturizer so my skin is nice and prepped for makeup. The It Cosmetics Confidence in a Cream works incredibly on my skin. It glides super nicely, and creates a great base for my makeup. Love love love it! Feels so luxurious, too!

As far as tools go, this Clarisonic is my ride or die. I’ve been using this bad boy for so many years, and I still love it! I switch out the heads about once a month, and he’s still going strong. Leaves my skin so fresh & clean.

My favorite makeup wipes are actually these from Costco! My mom & I buy them in bulk (and by bulk I mean a literal pack of like 20 lol) and we split them. Way cheaper, and these are actually my favorite ones that I’ve tried! I love how they’re not too wet, but wet enough to be effective in taking off my makeup before I get a chance to deep clean. I always keep a pack of these in my purse, too, for on the way home from school or work to take off my makeup.

I know I’ve said this SO many times, but taking off your makeup before bed is probably one of the best things you can do for your skin! Even if I have a late night out and all I want to do is sleep, I ALWAYS take the time to at least wipe my face with one of these. Better than nothing!

I hope you guys enjoyed seeing my favorite skincare products today! These products have made a huge difference in the appearance of my skin, so I’m hoping they’ll help some of you guys out too. It’s so incredibly important to take care of your skin, so treat your skincare as an investment in yourself!

See you all on Wednesday!! Muah!

Lusting for Lush

Posted in Beauty
on March 8, 2017

Lord knows I have way too many Lush products- I can’t help myself! Lush has so many incredible products, but sometimes it can be super overwhelming because they have what seems like an endless amount of options. I’ve been shopping at Lush for a few years now, & I’ve tried a ton of their stuff- some have made it into my list of holy grail products, and some… not so much.

On my Insta stories I always share my favorite bath bombs, and I get a ton of questions on my favorites & other product recommendations from Lush.

With that said, I thought it’d be super fun to talk all about my favorite Lush products, & share things I still want to try from them! Being the huge beauty junkie that I am, I’m always looking to try new things, so please send me all your recommendations that I haven’t included in here- I want to know what y’all are loving!

So let’s jump in 🙂

Let’s start with my favorite: bath bombs & bubble bars!!

Lush splits its store by product type- shampoo, conditioner, face products, bubble bars & bath bombs, soaps, etc. My favorite part of the store is definitely the bath bombs! I’m not going to lie- to be very honest, I don’t know exactly what beneficial advantages bath bombs & bubble bars have for skin health, but they’re freaking fun. Nothing is more satisfying than that initial contact that results in colorful swirly water! Lush scents are amazing, and bath bombs can totally change your bath experience.

In case you’re not super familiar with Lush products, here’s a little explanation: bubble bars are exactly what they sound like- a ton of pretty colorful bubbles! But if you’re looking for more of a fizzy bath, go for a bath bomb. The bath bombs tend to have a little more color & pigment, if you’re wanting to go for a really bright & colorful bath.

My favorite bath bombs are:

INTERGALACTIC: my ALL-TIME FAVORITE. Smells amazing, and I’d probably go so far as to say it’s the most beautiful. If you’re looking for the perfect Instagram pic, I’d say go for this one- it gives you beautiful swirls of bright yellow, green, blue, & pink.

BIG BLUE: This one’s super relaxing & refreshing. If you’re more sensitive to strong smells, this one’s a good pick! It smells like lavender & a hint of lime.

METAMORPHOSIS: I’m dying to try this one!! One of my friends sent me a snapchat video of this one, and it’s so pretty- after the grey fizzes out, it exposes gorgeous bright colors!

PINK: For anyone who’s not trying to spend $10 on a bath, this one’s awesome! I know bath bombs can get a little pricey, so if you’re wanting to try out bath bombs for the first time without splurging on a bunch, this one’s awesome to give you a little hint of the magic that is bath bombs. 🙂

Onto bubble bars!

BIG BANG: This one gives you gorgeous blue water with lots and lots of bubbles!

THE COMFORTER: This one’s soooo creamy.

SUNNYSIDE: I’d go so far as to say this one’s my fave bubble bar. It gives you a “liquid gold” bathing experience- so fun! The only bad thing I can say is that it leaves your tub super glittery, so make sure you rinse or scrub it all off afterwards!

Lush face masks are also some of the best in the market! I love how they’re all natural and (don’t quote me on this, but I’m pretty sure) vegan. They’re pretty much all sensitive skin-friendly, which is awesome!

They have two types of face masks: self-preserving & fresh. The self-preserving ones can last for a few months, while the fresh face masks have an expiration date. I’ve tried the fresh masks before, but for me personally, I prefer to just go with the self-preserving. I love experimenting with face masks, so I hate that I only have 2 weeks to use up the fresh ones. If you’re the type of person who uses a face mask start to finish, though, these are awesome!! Just be sure to keep them in your fridge when you’re storing them.

Here are some of my faves:

MASK OF MAGNAMINTY: This one’s a cult favorite, and the one I’ve been using for years and years. It leaves my skin feeling incredibly refreshed & smooth like a baby’s butt.

CUP O COFFEE: This mask smells extremely potent, so if you’re not crazy on strong scents stay away from this one! The caffeine in this one boosts your skin, and the coffee grounds help to scrub away dirt.

ROSY CHEEKS: I’ve tried this one before but don’t currently have it on me. It’s amazing for soothing your skin; it has calamine in it, which is super good if you have irritated skin!

Onto body products!

Lush also makes a ton of shower jellies, lotions, cleansers, shaving creams, & so much more! My favorite body products from Lush are:

DREAM CREAM: This one leaves my skin feeling incredibly moisturized, but not like an oil-slick. I hate super heavy moisturizers, and this one’s perfect for my preferences.

OCEAN SALT: My FAVE scrub!!! You can use this on your face or your body, so it’s super sensitive skin-friendly. It’s not too harsh, either, so you don’t have to use it super sparingly. Love love love.

LEMONY FLUTTER: This one’s awesome for winter time if you get super dry skin in the winter months, like I do. I always keep one in my purse in case I need it while I’m out!

Hair favorites:

DAMAGED: I always use this one after I get my hair colored. If you have super dry, damaged hair, this one’s perfect.

I LOVE JUICY: I personally am not a fan of Lush’s shampoo bars, just because I prefer something easy peezy that I can squeeze out of a bottle. This one, though, comes out of a bottle, and it’s perfect for the days when you haven’t washed your hair in a week (girl, I know you know what I’m talking about.)

YAY- you made it to the end!! Hopefully this helped any of you who are overwhelmed by how many products Lush has! If any of you have specific questions about any of the products, please shoot me an e-mail or a comment- I would love to chat! Also send me all your recommendations for anything I didn’t mention; like I said, I love trying out new stuff, so I would totally love to try out some of y’all’s favorites. 🙂
