Something about embroidered details just gives me all sorts of heart eyes! This dress is no exception, either. This dress reminds me so much of children’s dresses, and I have to admit, I’m digging it! The whole look is so soft, and fresh- so simple yet fun! This combo is perfect for a lunch date, or church on Sunday morning.

The weather in Texas lately has been bezerk!! One day it’s 80 degrees and then the next it’s 50 degrees.. I guess that’s Texas in a nutshell. How’s everyone’s week going so far??

See you all tomorrow!

5 Tips for Staying Motivated

Posted in Lifestyle
on February 22, 2017

Hi everyone! I hope you’re all having an awesome start to February! This month I don’t have too much going on- it’s after all the holidays have died down, school’s started back up, and there’s not a ton to look forward to. Months like these can sometimes put me into a rut, and it makes me feel sluggish and unmotivated- I almost feel like there’s nothing to look forward to in the near future. Especially when it comes to New Year’s Resolutions, this is always the time that everything flatlines for me. I’m sure there’s no way I’m the only one who feels this way (unless I really am… then shame on me.) After a while, though, I’ve figured out a few ways to try to overcome it, and I wanted to share these tips with you in case any of you are going through a rough patch!

1.) Remember why you started.

This one’s a hard one for me! Especially when it comes to diets and workout plans, I always start to plateau around 3 weeks to a month in. It’s helped me a lot to think about why I started in the first place. Maybe you’re trying to get in shape for a vacation coming up, or working on a long term project. If you remember why you started, you’ll remember why you wanted to do it in the first place, which will hopefully motivate you to get back into it!

2.) Take a breather.

I don’t know about y’all, but sometimes all I need is just a day off to do something fun. There have been SO many times where I have big exams coming up that I’ve been studying and studying and studying for- but then I get burnt out. That’s when Akash and I decide, “Okay, if I sit here and try to tough it out, that’s not going to do me any good.” At that point, you might as well get some fresh air- go on an adventure for a day, take a walk, go to that new restaurant you’ve been meaning to try! Sometimes all you need is just a little fresh air. 🙂

3.) Find a new hobby.

Or spend some time doing something you already enjoy! For me, starting my blog became this incredible outlet where I could channel all of my creative energy. I definitely look at it as a passion of mine, and when I blog I think of it as getting to do the “fun stuff.” Figure out what that may be for you- exercising, reading a book, even knitting! If you’re having trouble with getting up in the morning and looking forward to something everyday, try finding a hobby that will make you excited to get up and start the day.

4.) Surround yourself with people who bring you up.

Something that’s been hard for me to learn (and that I’m still in the process of learning) is surrounding myself with people who are driven, and only pull me up. I’ve had my fair share of bad friends- ask my mom, she’ll tell you all about it- to know that when you surround yourself with kind-hearted people, it really makes a difference in the way you see yourself. Find people who will motivate you, encourage you, and support you.

Last but not least,

5.) Go on Pinterest & find some motivating quotes. Then write them on some sticky notes and put them around your house!

This seriously works. When I was a junior in high school & studying for the SAT, learning the vocabulary words was one of the hardest parts for me. Insert this tip. After writing the definitions on places around my house, I’m not kidding, I learned them all within a week. I know this example’s a little silly, but it really works! My favorite is putting one up on my mirror to wake up to each day. It may seem goofy, but try it out! It’s worked for me, and I’m sure it can work for some of you. 🙂

I hope you guys enjoyed hearing my tips for staying motivated! This time of year can be kind of “bleh” for a lot of people, so know you’re not alone! Wishing everyone an awesome rest of your week, and I’ll see you all on Friday!

How I Stay Organized

Posted in Lifestyle
on February 15, 2017

Happy Wednesday friends!! I hope all of you had a wonderful day yesterday, and were showered with the love you deserve! Akash & I had a super romantic dinner at Christopher’s in College Station, and the food was amazing. I’m already looking forward to the leftovers I’m going to have for lunch! Now that all the Valentine’s Day posts are done with, I’m switching the gears a little bit today & we’re talking all about how I attempt to stay organized.

Sometimes life gets a little crazy! You have what seems like a bajillion things going on, a gazillion things to do- it can definitely be overwhelming! A lot of times I find myself feeling like I’m doggy paddling in an ocean spanning miles and miles long. With keeping up with an 18 credit hour schedule this semester, keeping up with my extracurricular organizations, posting content on my blog three times a week, trying to maintain a social life, and holding onto the very last thread of attempting to be healthy, it can get exhausting! Now that I’m a junior in college, I feel like I’m starting to get my sh*t together (at least most of the time.) I’ve come up with some key tips that help me, and hopefully they’ll help you out too!

Use a planner.

Actually utilize your planner- I’m not talking about just occasionally jotting down your exams or your big dates. Write everything down! When you have a ton of stuff going on, it can be easy to remember the small things. My planner is my life. I write down everything, down to what I’m planning to eat that day, what time I’m going to work out, along with everything I have to do for the day. And don’t just write it down- check it! I know sometimes I can be a little forgetful when it comes to actually following my planner and what I wrote down, but really following it is the only way it really works! Once you get into the habit, you’re golden.

Sometimes you have to make tough decisions! Is this blog post that I have to get up today more important or is this homework assignment due tomorrow more important? Figure out what your priorities are, and plan accordingly. Sometimes we can be blinded by putting things we want to do above the things we need to do, and without prioritizing, it can be easy to give in.

Plan specific times to plan!

Some people may say this is totally unnecessary, but I definitely think this is essential. I’m not talking about going above and beyond with decorating your planner with washi tape & stickers (for you girls who can keep up with this, props to you! I’m just not one of those people.) Every Sunday afternoon, I sit down and plan out what I have to do for the week- which days I’m working out, which day I have to go grocery shopping, what days I’m grabbing lunch with friends. This lets me have a good idea of what each day’s going to be like, and shows me if there’s anything big happening that week that I need to prepare for.

Keep your space clean.

When I’m back home in Dallas, I’m really bad about this one. Sorry, Daddy! But when I’m in College Station, 9 times out of 10 you’ll find my apartment spotless, with everything in it’s place. How can you expect your life to be organized if you can’t even keep your own living space organized? I plan out times each week to do my laundry, and to clean my room. There’s something so soothing about just having a clean room.

So, real talk. Let’s be honest, not everyone has time every day to keep things right in their places and have all their sh*t together, right? I definitely don’t! More often than not, I find my bedroom looking like a tornado blew through, and my planner is filled with 999 things to do and none of them have been completed yet. And you know what? That’s okay! I just want to remind all of you that it’s okay to not always have everything perfect, because nobody’s perfect. Sometimes I realize I’m beating myself up for not having everything together, but we all have to realize that sometime’s life’s crazy and you won’t have it all together- and that’s okay. Just take a breath, and realize that everything’s going to be okay. Hopefully some of these tips can help y’all take a step toward staying organized & keeping your life clutter-free, but just remember that nobody’s perfect 24/7!

See you on Friday, my loves!

My Springtime Uniform

Posted in Fashion, Outfits
on February 9, 2017

When in doubt, a white tee and skinny jeans will never fail you. These are words I live by, y’all. On this blog we talk a lot about what to wear on fancy date nights and “casual” brunches with our girlfriends, but let’s be real- sometimes the truth is that ain’t nobody got time for that.

I love dressing up just as much as the next girl, but some days you just don’t have the patience to deal with wrinkled tops & uncomfortable heels. So today, we’re kicking it down a few notches- yay! This outfit is my absolute go-to for whenever I need something quick, easy, & (most importantly) comfortable.

When you’re comfortable in what you’re wearing, you’re also more confident in yourself! Simplicity, in my opinion, is the key to looking chic & effortless. Less is more, people, less is more.

The key to dressing for spring weather is layering. My mom’s always told me that when spring rolls around you always have to be careful with dressing too warm- you never know when you’re going to step outside after work and see that it’s pouring outside & 30 degrees cooler than that morning! This leather jacket makes it easy to be warm in cooler weather, but if it gets warm, take it off- easy peezy!

Happy Friday!! Thought I’d throw a little fun print into the mix of 99% winter-toned outfits! I’ve had these heels for the longest time and never really knew how to style them. I believe I bought them two spring seasons ago, and they’ve only gotten to come out to play maybe once.

I love playing with elements from other seasons into the current one- it keeps things fun & fresh. I kept the whole outfit besides the shoes more neutral, so the shoes grab all of the focus. I’m definitely going to be repeating this outfit throughout the spring, too- don’t judge me!
