In honor of the first snow day of 2017 here in Texas, I’m bringing you all my winter time beauty essentials! These are some absolutely essential products for winter time, that I’ve seriously been using the heck out of. My skin gets crazy dry in the winter time- you can ask literally anyone around me. My face gets especially dry, so some of these products help me keep my skin in shape & my hair looking good. My #1 beauty mantra is definitely keeping my skin & hair looking healthy, so doing my makeup and styling my hair ends up looking 100x better!

Macadamia Professional Nourishing Moisture Masque

This mask is seriously a life saver! I used to be a huge fan of the Macadamia Oil Deep Rescue Masque, but I personally like the smell of this one so much better. After having a period of styling it a ton, I love using this mask to make my hair super soft & silky.

Origins Out of Trouble 10 Minute Mask

Like I mentioned earlier, my skin gets crazy dry in the winter time. I get a ton of dry patches around my mouth, and my cheeks get super dry too, so when I put on makeup sometimes you can see it and it looks super gross. This face mask keeps my skin clear & looking great, and prepares it for my moisturizer!

First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Cream

This moisturizer is actually a pretty recent discovery! It’s so rich and creamy, and glides on my skin super easily. Keeps it hydrated 24/7, and gets rid of all my dry patches. I love it so much because it’s hydrating but not too oily.

Macadamia Natural Oil Moisturizing Rinse

This conditioner is in one of my favorite haircare lines. It works miracles as a de-tangler, and I use it every time I wash my hair. Pro tip: get it at places like TJ Maxx and Marshall’s so you don’t end up paying a fortune!

Moroccan Oil Treatment

This hair oil is seriously one of my holy grail products. I put it on damp hair, and it leaves your hair shiny (but not too shiny) & smelling amazing.

Bare Minerals Blemish Remedy Serum

Last but not least! Even though I do get super dry skin in the winter time, I also get breakouts (so annoying, I know.) This new Bare Minerals Acne Serum works wonders for my skin, and helps to keep it looking bright & clear. I use this once every night before putting on the First Aid Beauty face cream. Definitely try this one out if you get blemishes at all!

Let me know what your favorite beauty essentials for the winter are! Those of you with dry skin- let me know what you use, I’m always open to suggestions! Have an amazing weekend, xoxo

A Week in the Woods

Last week I spent a super relaxing few days in Oklahoma with my boyfriend and his family. We stayed at my boyfriend’s dad’s cabins up in the Beaver’s Bend surroundings, in the Broken Bow area- check them out here!! For those of y’all in the Oklahoma/Texas area, iff you ever find yourself wanting to take a little vacay, I highly recommend checking out these awesome cabins!

Anyway, we had so much fun on our little 4 day trip & I really wanted to share some of our photos with all of you! Akash took some of these pictures- if any of you have photography needs, be sure to check out his work here & here; he takes all of my photos, and does an amazing job 🙂 Thanks, baby!

Akash’s dad built a beautiful pond next to his properties- we spent one morning just exploring the area, and taking a nice walk around it. Last year we went fishing here, too!

We stayed in the Hilltop Honey Cove- amazing cabin, so much room!

Our second day on the trip it was super foggy- but it made for some really awesome photos!

We also stopped by the Hochatown State Park. It had a huge lake, and we spent one afternoon just by the shore finding seashells, skipping rocks, and playing frisbee- it was so nice to get some fresh air & just hang out. Akash took this photo by the water- so pretty!!

I hope all of you enjoyed seeing the pictures from our little trip! It was so nice to have a little getaway from real life, but now I’m back to work. Two more weeks until I head back to school, so I’m definitely going to be savoring my time here in Dallas for the next several days.

Happy Friday!! Thought I’d throw a little fun print into the mix of 99% winter-toned outfits! I’ve had these heels for the longest time and never really knew how to style them. I believe I bought them two spring seasons ago, and they’ve only gotten to come out to play maybe once.

I love playing with elements from other seasons into the current one- it keeps things fun & fresh. I kept the whole outfit besides the shoes more neutral, so the shoes grab all of the focus. I’m definitely going to be repeating this outfit throughout the spring, too- don’t judge me!

I’ve linked a ton of other options in case any of you want to shop a similar look! All linked below.

The Best Kind of Days

IMG_7944.JPGThis morning Akash and I took a little trip to the farmer’s market in Bryan! Since it’s the weekend before Thanksgiving break, we have a little more free time than normal so we figured we would stop by before my appointment at the car service place. I’d never been to a farmer’s market before so it was super fun to see everything there. To be completely honest, I’m not a huge outdoors-y person… but it was definitely fun taking cute pictures of all the plants there 😛

They had the cutest little plants, and even though I definitely don’t have a green thumb, I want to go back to get some of these little succulents and cacti to put in a glass planter to keep in my room- adorable!!

Of course we had to stop by for some brunch afterwards! (If you know me,  you know I love brunch more than 99% of things in this world.) First Watch is one of my all-time favorite brunch places- it’s seriously so good!! I wish they were open all day, though, that would seriously be a dream come true.IMG_7995.JPGIMG_7999.JPG

Unfortunately, though, the lighting wasn’t our friend today so we weren’t able to get any cute food pics 🙁 Next time for sure! If you’ve never had their iced coffee, though, it’s seriously so refreshing. A little on the sweet & creamy side, but still delicious nonetheless.

fullsizerenderAfter brunch, we went home and just took some time to relax a little bit. Personally, I love spending my weekends running around being productive, but it was super nice being able to just take a little breather and watch movies. Then it was back to go go go, and we ran a few errands around town for a little project I’m working on that you all will get to see next week! Be sure to follow my Instagram for some sneak peeks. 🙂

I hope you guys enjoyed this diary-style post! I always get a lot of good feedback when I post some more personal lifestyle content, so I thought this would be a fun way to share a little bit of my life with all of you.

So Fresh So Clean

No, I’m not talking about the song… When it comes to beauty, my number one most important piece of advice is to take care of your skin. It only makes sense, considering if your skin isn’t healthy, your makeup probably won’t look too good, either. Finding a skincare regimen that works for your skin specifically can be a really difficult process, and most of the time it requires trying out every product under the sun to find what works for you.

IMG_0332.JPG

I’ve finally gotten my routine down, so I thought I would share with all of you my favorite products! Keep in mind that what works for me may not work for you, so when you’re searching for skincare products be sure to look at what the product is made to do, based on your own skin type. As a reference, I have normal/combination skin, and I do get the occasional blemish, but no severe acne. Quick disclaimer- I’m definitely in no way a dermatologist, these are just products I’d recommend to a friend because they’ve worked for me!

IMG_0337.JPG

I am a big fan of GlamGlow, as you can probably see. I’ve tried out quite a few of their products, and I’ve definitely picked out my favorite of the bunch. Quick tip- GlamGlow sells their products in mini travel size versions. I’d recommend picking one of those up if you’re not sure yet if you want to commit, and try it out before shelling out a ton of money on a product that may or may not work for you. That’s what I did- I bought something at Nordstrom and it came with a gift with purchase, so I was able to try out a few of their products without paying anything out of pocket. They also have a set available that’s just sample sizes! Also, don’t forget that Sephora does take returns! I always take back products that don’t work for me. I’ve had a lot of friends tell me they feel bad for taking it back because it’s already used, but the products’ prices already include the company’s estimations for product returns. Moral of the story, if you’re paying the money, make sure you get what you want!

I’m going to break down each product and what they do really quickly, + my opinion:

POWERMUD Dual Cleanse Treatment– I’ve only used the travel size version, but I love it! It’s a quick mask that leaves your skin feeling clean and refreshed. Definitely worth a try, I’m definitely contemplating getting it in the full size!

THIRSTYMUD Daily Hydrating Cleanser– My favorite all time cleanser. You know you love a product when you have it in 3 different sizes. I use it with my Clarisonic, and it works great. It gets a nice, deep clean, but it’s not too harsh. Plus it has a slight pleasant scent that’s not too overpowering.

img_0315

GRAVITYMUD Firming Treatment– The infamous silver facial mask.. this mask is definitely worth the hype plus more. I love the way my skin looks after I apply it, so a lot of times when I’m not rushed in the morning I’ll put the mask on and afterwards apply my makeup. It creates a smooth canvas for your foundation, which I love.

I personally no longer use a toner, just because I find that I really don’t need one. A lot of toners are basically 99% alcohol, and it can really dry out my skin. If you do prefer using a toner, I recommend the Mario Badescu Glycolic Acid Toner. To be completely honest, the only reason I stopped using it was because I ran out and didn’t get a chance to go out and get a new one… but after a few weeks of not having it, I kind of realized I didn’t really need it- my skin still looked and felt the same without it. But it’s definitely a nice toner, it has a very slight scent, and takes care of any makeup residue you might have left.

img_0339

On to serums!

Why do I have two serums, you might ask? Because I can! I like to switch things up every once in a while just so that my skin doesn’t grow used to a product and it becomes ineffective. I typically use serums every night, and every morning, before my moisturizer. I like to think of it as my skin drinking up the serum before the moisturizer provides a shield from the makeup. Both of these are great, but my favorite is definitely the Soap & Glory Make Yourself Youthful Serum. I know I’m only 20, but it’s never too early to prevent wrinkles!! I also really like the Pixi Hydrating Milky Serum– it basically does the same thing, and it’s super accessible because it’s sold at Target.

img_0334

Next up is my moisturizer. I use the Kate Somerville Oil-Free Moisturizer- it’s unscented, and super light, so it glides onto the skin like butter. I’ve recommended it to friends and they all love it to! It’s also great because of the hygienic dispenser- you don’t have to worry about dipping you finger and all the bacteria on it directly into the moisturizer. The only downside is that it can be pretty pricey.

img_0322

Last but not least, something I like to call my miracle worker. Have your skin ever graciously surprised you with a zit the size of a planet the day before you had something important to attend? Yeah, been there done that. This little guy will save your life! All you have to do is use a Q-tip and dip directly into it, apply it to your pimple, and voila! the next morning you’ll wake up flawless. Just kidding, but this treatment does significantly reduce the size of your blemishes, and helps to dry it up so you don’t have a huge red honker on your face. I actually got this recommendation from the queen of beauty herself, Kylie Jenner.

Whew! That was a long one! I hope all of you enjoyed learning about my favorite skincare products, let me know what your recommendations are- I look forward to seeing y’all’s comments!
