Living in LA has pushed me in so many ways. A big one that I’ve noticed as of lately, is how much living in LA has influenced me to start getting outdoors more! I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again. I’m not one of those people who finds running on a treadmill to be enjoyable. For me to enjoy a workout, it needs to be fun and engaging. Today I’m sharing some tips for how to enjoy working out for people who hate working out.
Don’t do a ‘traditional’ workout
Part of the reason I despise working out so much is because for so long, I forced myself on a treadmill to burn calories. It was never fun- I dreaded it every day, and the hour spent on the treadmill was just pure torture. After having such a stigma on workouts for so long, I’ve avoided and dreaded it at all costs. Lately, though, I’ve been able to try out workouts that are more fun and dynamic. Skip the treadmill- go do something you enjoy! If your goal is to increase the amount of physical activity in your life, starting with fun activities to get your blood pumping.
Try new things constantly
Long gone are the days of sticking to the same workouts all the time. There are so many ways to try out different workouts, and find what works for you. If you haven’t heard of ClassPass, it’s an awesome way to try out a ton of different workouts at different studios. You can also try out different workout classes at different studios without ClassPass, too. Try everything out, and see which one fits best for you.
Get yourself some new workout gear
Okay #basic I know… but there’s seriously nothing that motivates me more than getting some new workout gear! When I get a new pair of leggings that make my booty pop, I feel so inspired to work out and put it to good use. Wearing fun new workout clothes you love also helps boost your confidence!
Make it worth your time
I’ve been to so many workout classes that are an hour or longer, but I end up not sweating nearly as much as I do when I do a 30 minute class. Make it worth your while! It’s totally okay to have a short workout, as long as you give it your all. I used to spend an hour on a treadmill, walking at 3 mph. I’ve found that if I really push, and work out for a solid 30 minutes, I feel so much more accomplished, even with the shorter time span.
Get outside!
I’ve found so many outdoor activities lately that I’ve been absolutely loving. Swimming, hiking, biking, and my newest favorite- playing paddle ball on the beach! Akash bought one of these wooden paddle ball sets recently, and we’ve been playing it on the beach. So fun, and it really gets your heart rate going. Get outside, breathe in some fresh air, and have fun with your friends! Having fun makes the time go by way faster.
