Thank you so much to Mary Kay for working with me on this post! As always, all opinions are mine alone.
This past weekend, I had the absolute honor of attending the first ever Her Conference in LA! As a few of my OG readers might remember, I actually attended my first Her Conference back in the summer of 2017 (you can check out the recap I did here!) It was such a blast, and I made some amazing connections there. I was so excited when Her Campus announced that they were doing their first one in LA, and I’m so glad I got to attend and work with Mary Kay.
Today I’ll be recapping a few of my favorite moments with y’all! If you didn’t get to attend, I’ll be taking you through the day, so it’s basically like you did. Last time around, I brought my friends Katie and Ashleigh to attend with me. This time, I brought my friend Alexis with me, since we both have a huge love for reality TV, and the one and only Stassi Schroeder was a keynote speaker.
To kick off the day, Jessica Alba was the first keynote speaker. It was so incredibly inspiring and eye-opening to hear her talk about how she started her own company, and about her struggles as a female founder. My biggest takeaway from her interview was to always fail fast. In any career or path, there are obstacles. The only way to succeed is to let yourself fail, but fail fast. If you get knocked down, pick yourself up, dust yourself off, and keep moving forward. After hearing her speak, it actually really opened my eyes up to some of the struggles and obstacles that I face on a daily basis, both at work and in my personal life.
I so admire Jessica’s nothing-can-stop-me attitude, and hope to take that more into my own life. Such an amazing woman – major girl crush!
There were a couple super cute booths set up at the venue, but Mary Kay hands down had the cutest activation, complete with a flower wall, a makeup touch up station, and even a booth to customize your own Perfect Palette™. These gorgeous new palettes may be filled with the Mary Kay Chromafusion™ Collection, allowing for a fully customizable look. We got to pick out our favorite eye look, and get our Perfect Palettes personalized with whatever we wanted on the front. Of course, I got my Instagram/blog name! I personally picked out the “Golden Topaz” eye look, and even got my makeup touched up with the palette. The colors are so gorgeous, and I’m so excited to play with the colors and see what new looks I can create. You can grab your own here!
Throughout the rest of the day, we listened to a ton more amazing speakers and panelists chat. One of my favorites was getting to hear Payton Sartain on a panel – Payton’s someone I’ve looked up to for years, and finally getting to see her in person and chat with her afterwards was so cool. We’re both former Aggies, and Texas transplants in LA!
Last but not least… at the end of the day, Stassi Schroeder, the QUEEN herself, gave the closing keynote. For any of my Vanderpump Rules lovers, Stassi was just as sassy in person as she was on TV. She talked about how she got to where she is now, and about how to navigate relationships with others. The best part is, after the panel I actually got to meet her and snap a photo. She was so incredibly sweet, and had the cutest animal print dress on. I’m not even joking when I say that I was about to hyperventilate (I get so nervous around famous people and, I honestly have no idea why) but she couldn’t have been nicer.
Overall, it was just the best day, and I’m so thankful to have gotten to experience it. If any of you are going to be in New York in late June, Her Conference NYC is on June 22!
