First off, let me start by saying that NONE of this post is sponsored. If I’ve worked with a brand and share it here, it’s only because I love it! I’m not being paid or gifted to say anything in today’s post. Everything is my own opinion, based on the experiences I’ve had. Capiche? 🙂 Today I’m sharing where to find quality affordable home decor for any space!
This post has taken SO long to pull together, so I hope it’s helpful. After sharing my apartment reveal, I’ve gotten so many questions about specific items, and about the process I took while decorating. Hopefully this post will help to answer any questions you may have! Later this week I’ll be revealing my apartment tour- so get excited!
I’ve broken down each retailer by what items to shop where, and a few of my favorite affordable finds. I know it’s long, but I’m hoping this will be an ‘evergreen’ post, where y’all are able to refer to it in the future when you need it. Happy decorating, my friends!
Wayfair
I can’t rave enough about my experience with Wayfair, y’all. There are a ton of items in my apartment from Wayfair (most of these y’all have requested links to!) If you’re working on decorating a starter apartment/home, this is the best place to go to for all your home decor needs- especially for quality affordable home decor. In particular, they have the most gorgeous rugs for the BEST price. I snagged this one from Wayfair, and I’m obsessed with it. Rugs at the 8′ x 10′ size usually run you over $500+, but this one ended up being only $85. Can you believe it?! Because of the price, I was a bit concerned about the quality, but I can’t rave enough about it.
They also have FREE 1-2 day shipping in most areas. It doesn’t get better than this! When I have another place to start decorating, Wayfair is most definitely going to be the first place I go. One quick note- they do have an annual sale, where they reveal deals throughout the day. I shopped it this year, but to be honest didn’t find the deals to be much more amazing than they already were. Perhaps the biggest deals were items I wasn’t in the market for, but I digress.
I have had a huge influx of questions about the rug in my apartment, so I’m linking it again here, along with a bunch of others that caught my eye. Some of these are a super similar style to the one I have. This may go without saying, but make sure you pay attention to the rug size and do your research before purchasing. I spent a lot of time deciding if I wanted my rug to go across the whole room, or only partial. I ended up getting one that fit about 70% of the room, so it acts like a carpet. I’m super happy with the way it all turned out!
Unfortunately the price is up to $100 for my exact rug, but that’s still an amazing price for a rug of that size. All of these rugs below are $100 and under for the 8′ x 10′ size. I repeat, all of these rugs are $100 and under. You’re welcome. 😉

They also have a fabulous selection of lighting! I snagged this lamp, and have it in the corner near my nightstand. If you do enough digging on the site, you’re guaranteed to find something you love. Linking a few of my favorite lamps from Wayfair here!
PBTeen
I legitimately could not rave about this brand enough. As most of you know, I’ve been working with PBTeen & PBDorm for the last few months to share with y’all my decorating tips + favorite pieces. They have so many amazing items for all your decor needs- apartment, home, dorm, you name it. More posts are coming with in depth explanations of my fave items, so stay tuned! You can check out the first one here.
Hayneedle
I’ve never shopped on Hayneedle personally, but after doing some research it looks like they are pretty affordable! They have furniture for under $100, but unfortunately from what I can see, they don’t offer free shipping. Y’all know how I feel about paying for shipping- that’s a big no no in my book. However, if you score a deal on an item, shipping might be worth it!
Here are a few items I picked out from their website!
Nordstrom Rack
Didn’t expect this one, did you? Nordstrom Rack has a ton of cute little accent pieces in store, but they have even more (plus lots of furniture!) online. Their stuff is always trendy, and if you have
Tuesday Morning
Tuesday Morning actually has a bit of a bad rep, but they have some decent stuff! For items like candles, throw pillows, and throw blankets, you can get a lot of bank for your buck here. It takes a bit of digging, but you can actually find some great items! I didn’t purchase anything from here for my current apartment, but I have plenty of items in my college apartments that were from here.
Home Goods
Everyone and their mother loves Home Goods, am I right? Unfortunately Home Goods also doesn’t have an online shop, so it’s not available for everyone. If you have one, cherish it! My favorite items to save on at Home Goods is bath items and everyday essentials. If you’re in need of items like shower curtains, bath rugs, runner rugs, toilet paper holders, hampers, drawer organizers, etc… this is the place for you! One tip here is to make sure you check the clearance aisles. They have a ton of options for cheap- tons of quality items marked down.
Home Goods is also the BEST place for all your floor-length mirror needs! You can pretty much find all of their floor-length mirrors for under $100, even for the largest ones.
Side note: if you ever need a cute notebook, check here first! Home Goods has a ton under $5. I get all of my work notebooks here!
Kirkland’s
Unfortunately, I believe Kirkland’s is only ship-to-store. If you’re lucky enough to live near one, it’s definitely worth a visit! The floor length mirror from my last apartment was from Kirkland’s, and I loved it. The best part was that it was only $60. A few of their items are a bit outdated, but you can find some good stuff for sure. Also, they have amazing seasonal items! If you’re looking for holiday decor, look here. Be sure to also find coupons online! They almost always have some out.
Target
Target’s a tricky one! Although they have so much cute stuff, you don’t want your apartment to look like everyone else’s. On top of that, Target’s not always your friend if you’re decorating on a budget. Although they’re definitely cheaper than, say Pier 1 or Pottery Barn, their items most definitely add up. It’s also easy to get suckered in for convenience sake. Target is the definition of a one-stop-shop!
The trick to saving on Target items is to pay attention to when they have sales! They also have a ton of items on clearance on Target.com – the selection online is way larger than in person. My bed frame is from Target- it’s actually a kid’s bed, so I scored it for under $200. It’s exactly what I was looking for, but it came out cheaper since it’s technically kids’ furniture. Also pay attention to the Cartwheel app! It used to be separate, but now it’s merged. This tip not only goes for home decor, but for all your Target needs! Last week, they had a 40% off coupon for all sandals, and I scored 3 pairs of heels for $40. Keep an eye out!
Target has some amazing home decor collections, but a few of my faves are the Hearth & Hand, Threshold, and Opalhouse. They have some amazing pieces, so feel free to mix and match for the look you’re going for! My tip with Target is to always check for coupons prior to purchasing. BUT, if you do purchase and then see it go on sale, Target has a pretty awesome return policy. Just take it back and ask them to price match!
I’m linking some of my favorite items from Target here:
Ikea
Ikea is another one that has the best selection in store, especially when you’re able to see the product in person. They do have some items online, though! Even though Ikea’s known for being cheap, some items can be terrible quality. However, there are also some items that are amazing quality! I’ve picked up a ton of items that I absolutely love, but also some have been disappointments. In particular, I love this display grid board that sits above my desk. It adds such a fun touch, and was only $15 (but looks way more $$$.)
Ikea’s a great place for basic furniture (like this plain white end table I have!) and for office/kitchen supplies. For anything that you don’t use daily, I think Ikea is a great place to go. For my desk, I really didn’t want to spend too much money, so I found this one from Ikea for only $25. Since I didn’t need anything fancy, it does the job! I then went and found little enhancements to spice it up a bit.
Overstock
I’m actually not a huge fan of Overstock myself, but I wanted to include it for those of you who may enjoy it! Personally, I haven’t had a ton of luck finding affordable but cute pieces on here. After scrolling through it a bit, I find that a lot of the items tend to look outdated, and aren’t as affordable as I’d prefer. However, if you do some digging you may be able to find some! Just wanted to include in case it may be helpful for y’all.
At Home
At Home is basically as cheap as it gets! Unfortunately, they don’t have their e-commerce set up at the moment, so everything is only in store. If you’re lucky enough to have an At Home near you, take advantage! They have aisles upon aisles of everything you could possibly need for your home. The best part is, that mostly everything is very affordable. It may take a bit of digging to find your perfect item, but I promise it’s worth it.
