Thank you to Melissa Joy Manning for collaborating with me for this post!
Being that this upcoming Sunday is indeed Mother’s Day, I knew I wanted to write a post dedicated to my incredible mama. So today, I’m teaming up with Melissa Joy Manning to introduce to all of you to the #1 lady in my life- meet my mom, Rachael!
The older I’ve gotten, the more I’ve come to realize how truly blessed I am to have two loving parents, and to have been raised in the house I was. Especially after starting college, I find myself frequently stopping to think “wow, God seriously gave me the best gift when he gave me my family.” Through all the times I’ve succeeded and all the times that I’ve failed (which is quite a few) my parents have pushed me through and supported me through everything. And that, I feel, makes me the luckiest girl in the world. 🙂
It’s funny- through a lot of my childhood and teenage years (which really weren’t that long ago.. LOL) I spent a lot of time thinking, “Ugh I wish my parents got me a brand new Mustang for my 16th birthday like Jennie’s parents did.” Or “Why do my parents care about my grades so much? Why do I have to clean my room all the time?” Little did I know that I would come to appreciate all of these things I used to despise. Whenever something good or bad happens, my mom has built a relationship with me to where I can go to her about absolutely anything, and she would guide me through. Any problem I have, I can always count on my mom to know what to do or to search through every mountain and valley until she found the answer for me.
Through every single friend who betrayed me, my mom was always the one there to pick up the pieces and help me stand back up again.
For every single dream I had and continue to have, my mom is not only my biggest cheerleader but also my voice of reason.
Through every tough time, my mom is the one I can always count on to make me laugh.
When I first started my blogging journey, for a long time it was just my mama who read every post and ‘liked’ every Instagram photo or Facebook post. To help me get my feet off the ground, my mom reached out to every relative, friend, or acquaintance to spread the word about my blog. Within 5 days time, my Facebook likes had shot up from a measly 11 to 129.
So with that said, I want to say thank you.
Thank you for supporting my dreams, no matter how big or small.
Thank you for never failing to make me laugh.
Thank you for all the hours you spent driving me around to practice, rehearsal, private lessons, and to tutoring.
Thank you for showing me by example the value of hard work.
Thank you for giving me a little brother who sometimes can be a little bit of a brat but whom I love so dearly.
Thank you for teaching me the importance of family.
Thank you for showing me patience even in the times that I didn’t deserve it.
Thank you for always picking up the phone when I’m 200 miles away & have a flat tire or don’t know which type of onion to get at the grocery store.
Thank you for helping me to build up my confidence when I needed it the most.
Thank you for being the best mother I could’ve ever asked for.
Happy Mother’s Day, Mommy. I love you!!!
