Weekend Escape with Getaway House

Weekend Escape with Getaway House

Happy Friday, friends! Hope you all had an absolutely amazing New Year’s, and are hitting the ground running this January. I’m back in LA, and it feels so good. The past few weeks were wonderful, getting to spend it home in Dallas with my family. We ate so much food and did absolutely nothing… just how I like to spend my time off!

During my trip home though, I had the absolute pleasure of getting to take my family on a little getaway thanks to my friends at Getaway House. We had such a fun time, I’m so excited to share this little treasure with y’all so you get to experience it too! PS they may or may not have also hooked me up with a special discount code for y’all… keep reading!

The outpost they have outside of Dallas was only an hour and a half drive for us, and it was a really pretty, scenic drive. You pass through the Texas countryside, filled with cute cows and acres on acres of pastures. I never get to see these in LA, so it was really special to enjoy the scenery on our drive.

When you arrive at the camping grounds, they really take care of everything you need. The cabin that we stayed in had 2 cozy queen beds, a gorgeous window to take in the nature, a mini kitchen, and a bathroom. Everything you need for a short stay! We cooked the majority of our meals outside on the fireplace, but the small stove was so handy to have to make tea and coffee in the morning. They have all the utensils you need, too. Y’all had so many questions about what all you need to bring, and the answer is really just food + your own personal toiletries and preferred items!

I love how easy they made the whole process; we brought a cooler full of food and loaded up a bunch of snacks, but other than that the house had everything we needed. It’s even dog friendly too!

The whole vibe of the place was perfect for a weekend getaway for you and your family, or even with a significant other. We had the absolute best time disconnecting from our phones and living simply. My brother brought a hammock, and we sat there reading books for a couple hours. So peaceful!

My favorite part was all the memories we made playing board games. Now that us kids are grown, we don’t always have a ton of time throughout the year to spend quality family time. This trip gave us the opportunity to put our phones down, and just have fun together enjoying the simple life. I’d recommend everyone take some time to get away, and just enjoy nature. There’s nothing better! For me, it was the perfect way to ring in the new year.

I’m already planning our next trip back – this time I’m taking Akash with me! Getaway House has an outpost near Los Angeles, so we’re planning to take a trip to this one in next few weeks before spring arrives. The best part is that no matter where you are in the USA, chances are there’s probably a Getaway House near you! If you’re interested in booking a stay, you can use code ‘SUMMER25’ for $25 off your first booking. Let me know if y’all end up going – would love to see your gorgeous pics!
