April Reading List

April Reading List

Third month in a row, I’m on a ROLL! April was a month full of great picks, so I’m just going to dive right in …

The Last Mrs. Parrish

If you pick one from this list to check out, let this be the one! It’s a thriller type, but has a really interesting concept + is such a fun read. I ripped through every page, and enjoyed the story line so much. It tells the story from two perspectives, and has so many great unexpected twists throughout it. This one’s also a Reese’s Book Club pick, so you know it comes highly recommended!

Five Years

Would you believe me if I said I finished this one in one night? Well, it’s true! I zoomed through it. A really great pick, that has an amazing twist at the end too. If you’re looking for more of a NYC rom-com style book, this one’s a good one.

The Woman in the Window

This one has a pretty significant cult following, so I wouldn’t be surprised if some of you have already read this one. It talks a lot about alcoholism and trauma, so warning to anyone who’s sensitive with those topics. It reminded me so much of The Girl on the Train – it has so many similarities. Overall I thought it was good, but I’m not sure I’d recommend it to everyone.

On the bright side – one of my favorite things is reading a book & getting to watch the movie based on the book! This one’s supposed to premiere this month, so I’m excited to watch it soon.

From Scratch

To be honest, I didn’t finish this one all the way through. It’s extremely heavy, in my opinion. The biggest theme of this memoir is grief, and it was a little tough to handle. I read the majority of the book, but honestly had to stop because I felt like it was too heavy. The empath in me has a hard time hearing about other’s suffering without taking it on myself, so I decided to close this one and find something lighter. If you’re not one to shy away from heavier topics, this one might be for you!

Good Riddance

This book was… interesting. I can’t give it a 10/10 recommendation, only because I found it slightly cringy. It had very ~early 2000s rom com vibes~ only not as romantic & didn’t give me that ‘sweep you off your feet’ kind of feeling. If you’re just looking for an easy breezy read for the beach or to sit by the pool, it’s semi-entertaining. As you can tell, it wasn’t my fave, but it wasn’t bad.
